Weather Now: Warm Sun, Low Humidity Today

Welcome to September. This is arguably one of the best months of the year in southern New England, with warm days, cooler nights, and typically drier air. And right on cue, today is going to be a beauty! We’ve seen abundant sun, low humidity and highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. West winds will be a bit breezy at 10-15 mph with gusts to 20mph. Hour by Hour // A look at the next hours’ conditions » September 1 marks the start of “Meteorological Fall”, which runs through November 30. For those who aren’t ready to give up on summer, the Autumnal Equinox is still 3 weeks away. Temperatures over the next few months will continue to cool, with average highs dropping from 80 today to near 70 by the end of the month and then to the upper 40s by the end of November. In addition, we’ll continue to lose around 2-3 minutes of daylight per day. The ocean and bay waters are still very warm, with some great beach days still likely. If you’re at the coast today, highs will reach near 80 with the surf around 3-4 feet. Ocean, Bay & Beach // A look at the conditions by the coast » It’s a perfect stretch to turn off the AC and fans, open up the windows and let the fresh air in. The air tonight will have the feel of fall, with overnight lows dipping into the low to mid-50s. There could even be a few rural spots that fall to the upper 40s by dawn. Friday looks a lot like today, with seasonable temperatures and abundant sun. WPRI 12 is looking for viewer opinions

WPRI 12 and its affiliated stations and websites are currently seeking Southern New Englanders to join an ongoing viewer feedback panel.

WPRI 12 has partnered with RAM (Research and Analysis of Media) in hopes of learning from viewers through brief online surveys in order to improve its content, offerings and advertising.

Whether you watch TV every day or just on occasion, the surveyors want to hear from as many people as possible.

Each time respondents answer a survey, they'll earn points that can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards. For example, earn 1,000 points to receive a $5 Amazon card, earn 1,500 points to receive a $10 Amazon card, and so on.
