Weather Alert: Showers with Downpours/Isol. T’Storms Today

Good morning. Some much-needed and beneficial rain is on the way for today. It will fall in the form of scattered showers, with some embedded downpours and an isolated thunderstorm. Most of these showers will hold off until near the end of the AM commute. However, drivers are dealing with some fog early this morning. . It’s an approaching warm front that’s bringing the off/on rain today. While exact amounts will be variable, we’re looking at the potential for 1/2″ to 1″ of rain today. That would be a welcome soaking for our drought-stricken area. It will be humid, but the clouds, showers and an easterly wind will keep temperatures running cooler than normal, mostly in the mid 70s. Hour by Hour // A look at the next hours’ conditions » ON THE BAY: Winds will be from the east at 5-10 mph with the visibility dropping to 1-3 nautical miles in today’s showers and morning fog. Ocean, Bay & Beach // A look at the conditions by the coast » Rain tapers off late this evening, with mostly cloudy skies and patchy fog overnight. There’s still a slight chance for a passing shower, but most of the night looks dry. Tomorrow it’s an approaching cold front that will bring the chance for a few more showers or thunderstorms. It doesn’t look as unsettled as today, with breaks of partial sun and warmer temperatures. WPRI 12 is looking for viewer opinions

WPRI 12 and its affiliated stations and websites are currently seeking Southern New Englanders to join an ongoing viewer feedback panel.

WPRI 12 has partnered with RAM (Research and Analysis of Media) in hopes of learning from viewers through brief online surveys in order to improve its content, offerings and advertising.

Whether you watch TV every day or just on occasion, the surveyors want to hear from as many people as possible.

Each time respondents answer a survey, they'll earn points that can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards. For example, earn 1,000 points to receive a $5 Amazon card, earn 1,500 points to receive a $10 Amazon card, and so on.
