Weather Now: Much Cooler Today; Turning Partly Sunny

The heat wave has ended. The temperatures are running nearly 20 degrees cooler and, while it is still a bit muggy, the oppressive humidity is gone, too. Heading into the afternoon look for highs in the upper 70s to near 80 with clouds gradually clearing for partly sunny skies. Northeast winds turn east at 5-10 mph. Hour by Hour // A look at the next hours’ conditions » At the beach, skies gradually brighten, too, with highs in the upper 70s. There is still a moderate risk for rip currents with the surf around three to four feet. Ocean, Bay & Beach // A look at the conditions by the coast » This evening stays dry and comfortable with partly cloudy skies. Clouds thicken tonight with a chance for showers late. Lows will be in the 60s. A disturbance passing off-shore has the potential to clip southern New England with some rain tomorrow. The best chance to see several hours of steady rain is along the coast and in the morning to early afternoon. A slight shift in the track of the disturbance will make a big difference in rainfall totals. Here’s one computer model’s take on the potential rainfall amounts, showing the highest amounts near the shore with very little farther inland. WPRI 12 is looking for viewer opinions

WPRI 12 and its affiliated stations and websites are currently seeking Southern New Englanders to join an ongoing viewer feedback panel.

WPRI 12 has partnered with RAM (Research and Analysis of Media) in hopes of learning from viewers through brief online surveys in order to improve its content, offerings and advertising.

Whether you watch TV every day or just on occasion, the surveyors want to hear from as many people as possible.

Each time respondents answer a survey, they'll earn points that can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards. For example, earn 1,000 points to receive a $5 Amazon card, earn 1,500 points to receive a $10 Amazon card, and so on.
